Babs au Rhum - Valentine cakes

On the occasion of Valentine’s Day, we share with you our delicious recipe of Babs au Rum, a revised version of the famous Baba au Rhum !
Ingredients cake :
- 100g of sugar
- 2 eggs
- 40g of butter
- 100g of flour
- 1 packet of yeast
Ingredients syrup :
- 10cl of Rum Babs
- 170g of sugar
- 30cl of water
Follow the recipe step by step below.
/ CAKE /
1 / Mix the eggs and the sugar.
2 / Add the flour, the softened butter and the yeast and mix until smooth.
3 / Set aside for 30 minutes.
4 / Fill the baking mold up to 75%.
5 / Preheat the oven at 180 C.
6 / Bake for 15 minutes at 180 C.
7 / Drop the temperature to 150 C and cook for another 15 minutes.
8 / In the meantime you can start with the syrup.
9 / Add the sugar and water into a cooking pot and bring to the boil.
10 / Once boiling lower the temperature and add the rum.
11 / Leave until small bubbles appear.
12 / Take off the heat and immediately plunge the baked cakes into the syrup.
13 / Leave the cakes to drip and place them in the fridge.
14 / Serve them fresh and ideally with some whipped cream.
