ABOUT US
Who is behind Rum Babs?
Hello I'm Gaële owner of Rum Babs. If you wish to read my full story then check-out my about page.
Where does the name Rum Babs come from?
This is a fun one to answer as it is actually the nickname I call my partner. We added the word Rum in front of it and pronounced it about 10 times to see if still had a good ring to it. It did and by pure coincidence it goes together with our logo which features a Baobab(s).
PRODUCT
How is Rum Babs made?
Each of our flavours is crafted according to a Malagasy family recipe which has been handed down from generation to generation, tested and approved for over a 100 years! Our "Punch au Rhum" are created by mixing seasonal fruits, spices and local rums.
Do you use all natural ingredients?
Working only with the best ingredients is essential to us. Our recipes are all natural and crafted without artificial flavouring, preservatives or artificial colouring, further highlighting the quality and taste of our products.
Where do your ingredients come from?
We have several suppliers helping us to stay true to our values. All of our spices, our dried fruits as well as our sugar cane are coming directly from local communities in Madagascar.
Why is there residue on the bottom?
As our products are made entirely with natural ingredients, residues are possible.
Just twist and turn your bottle to allow all the flavours to spread before serving.
Can I eat the leftover fruit?
Much like Sangria, yes you can. Although we must advice you to eat with moderation as the fruits tend to absorb alcohol and therefore concentrate it all in one bite. Also avoid to bite into the ginger unless its for a bet with friends. Make sure to let us know if you've won.
Why do you call it "Punch au Rhum" and not "Rhum arrangé" or Rum?
According to European laws the offical naming for Rum-based drinks with a lower alcohol content than 37.5% vol. are to be called "Punch au Rhum".
Do you plan on adding additional flavours?
Yes! My family recipes have literally hundreds of different flavours; from the use of coffee to advocados! We hope to one day have them all in our collection.
How do I need to store my bottle?
As with any beverages, storage is an important way to hold on longer to your precious stock. The same goes for "Punch au Rhum". Our advice for our bottles is: store in a dry and dark place. Incorrect storage can lead to the discoloration of the fruits and inherently the flavour.

GENERAL QUESTIONS
Am I allowed to drink Rum Babs?
If you are looking for the answer to this question, probably not. According to Belgian law if you are 18 years old and above all is well. If you are under the age of 18 you need to immediately leave this website.
Will I like "Punch au Rhum"?
This is a very personal question but understandable if you have never had the opportunity to taste a "Punch au Rhum" before. We have multiple friends who did not enjoy Rum at all. Even in cocktails it wouldn't be their preferred choice of drinks. With Rum Babs' smoothness, they are now the first ones to recommend it after dinner. It's a versatile product so whether you wish to try it pure, with an ice cube, in a cocktail or in a kitchen recipe, we are convinced you will find a way to not like but adore Rum Babs.
Why is there no more stock available?
Because of the scaricity and seasonality of some of our ingredients it can happen that our stock runs out. When this happens a fill-in form will automatically appear allowing you to write down your contact details. You will be the first to be informed when new bottles are available.
Sustainability
What to do with my glass bottle once finished?
All of our bottles need to be recycled in dedicated glass containers. We are however on the look out for a circular solution to get these bottles back to us so that we can reuse them once more. If you think you can help us out let us know by contacting us.
What projects do you support?
Each bottle sold contributes to a project we support. If you wish to learn more about this then take a look at our dedicated project page.
